I was inspired by personal real life events to do an illustration that i wanted to turn into a 3D piece. I was practicing being my own art director, concept artist, modeler and texture artist. You can guess how often I've cursed out the concept artist about certain design choices or lack of detail only to remind myself that i was responsible for those. I've learned how important clarity is to modelers when you render and design for pipeline. I've learned that certain things have to be cheated in 3D to make it look like on concept (lighting- jeesh). I have learned that i have a serious hatred for xGen (hair plugin for maya). I have learned that white is not always white and that every surface has to have been "lived on" - fingerprints, spots, irregularities in shape, dust, etc. I've learned that asymmetry makes things look believable even when it hurts to break a perfectly shaped cube ;)
